AS A NATIONAL LEVEL COACH AND NATION LEVEL COACH TRAINER I WOULD LIKE TO START A BLOG ON COACHING/TRAINING.
AGAIN BLESS ALL YOUR SOULS FOR HELPING OUT. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY TRAINERS WORK SO VERY HARD BUT BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T BEEN TRAINED CORRECTLY THEY ACCOMPLISH LITTLE -NOT YOUR FAULT. I HAVE SEEN TRAINING GO ON WERE KIDS STAND FOR OVER 3 MINUTES AT A TIME AND TOUCH THE BALL ONCE. AN OLD MYTH STATES THAT A KID WOULDN'T BECOME GOOD PLAYER UNLESS THEY HAVE OVER 1,000,000 QUALITY TOUCHES AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT THAT IS SOMEWHAT TRUE. A GOOD TRAINING SESSION SHOULD HAVE A KIDS HAVE AT LEAST 2000 QUALITY TOUCHES PER SESSION.

FIELD USAGE:
Coaches, there currently is discussion regarding field priority for /practice/training in order to ensure safety of players and maximum use of fields (93 teams and only so much field space). Lights are available at Los Coyotes and Behringer South til about 9:30pm .......I need your input, so please provide comment on the following scenario:

La Mirada Adult U06 and U08 ONLY
Los Coyotes U08 and U10 until 7pm
Los Coyotes U14 and above after 7pm
Behringer Lower U06 ONLY
Behringer Middle U12 until 7pm
Behringer Middle U14 and above after 7pm
Benton West U10
Benton Middle U12
Benton East U14 and above ONLY

Number of Teams/Divisions as follows
U06: 15
U08: 25
U10: 27
U12: 14
U14: 08
U16: 02
U19: 02

SOME COMMENTS TO DATE:
Mark Swan: Looks fine. I've been noticing older teams on fields that were supposedly designated for younger teams and the reverse. I see U12 teams at the adult school and U8 teams taking space at Benton Middle. Someone is going to get hurt. I think we need to be more strict to the boards designation of what age level should be using what field space. I know its hard to manage. Thanks for asking my opinion.

Scott T. Monzingo: Gary, I will comment on the suggestion. I do not think it is fair to limit Coaches to certain time slots. For example my practice starts at 6:00pm, I do not finish until 7:30-7:45pm. I believe there should be more than enough space now that all fields are available to allow Coaches to Practice when their schedules both work and family allow. Most coaches have a unique ability to work things out as far as space for practices and scrimmages. Lastly now that you have had to convince some people to step up to Coach a Team, how can you tell them that there are only certain times that they can practice. What about work, there are many people who do not get off work until 5:00pm, and do not get home until 6:00pm. If they are a U12 Coach does this mean they do not practice at all, or do they merely practice for a half of an hour? Sincerely,

Mark Swan: I think we should designate field locations, but not time slots. Create space according to the number of teams per age group.Keep it simple if possible.

Edwin Castillo: I coach from 5:00 to 6:30 GU-10 and right after that I have the BU-6 from 6:30 to 7:30 on the same field, if we start designating field or time locations you will have parents running around trying to make it from one practice to another. I think that we should live it as is. I had a coach (BU-10) on Tuesday that asked me for the field when I was coaching the BU-6 and I gave him the field because I know I can train the little one just about anywhere. All it takes is for the coach to recognize who needs the training more.

Bob Davis: I do believe that times restrictions can cause some problems for some. Assigning areas might be better until there is a conflict with other coaches, some coaches lay out way to much space and in the middle of an area so that no one can use the space beside them. But we shouldn't have smaller kids practice around older's, this might cause a safety problem.

PLEASE POST YOUR THOUGHTS>>>>>

Set a field for the older's like we have at Benton and like wise for the other ages. If coaches would set up their area's so not to take up the middle of an area then we would have enough space. Also no mention of Behringer back?

I think that the 2 quarter keeper rule is bad but worse is the fact that it had to be done:(
